-daidee,

-blasting of indian songs, (Cultural exchanged was very much appreciated, but make this the first but sadly, the last time!)

-listened to winston's awful translation to vishnu,

-Nigel ah nai solemn contribution as the santa claus of the night (P.S sorry for making you sniff and eat so much cotton wool HAHA, -refer to tagboard- you said want to sacrifice you again so.. TADAA! ),

OKAY NOW REGARDING THE TEAM'S SHIRT & SLOGANS,

We have actually saw a singlet from NYP's shopping arcade and was thinking of making that as our team/competition shirt. (FYI, its the first shop you see when you enter the shopping arcade and the shirt is a sleevless white top with orange linings, it's retailing at $11.50 (with the 10% discount) without the printing) It's more or less confirmed to be that design and colour but CK just need to ask IVAN whether is he going to sponser us for that before we proceed to buying it.
So this is just to let you all know that we'll be doing a Team shirt soon.

And also for the slogan, (we need it either for the shirt, if not, for the new year 2010! )
We want it to be more unique and well.. attract people and stand out. We came up with a few and you're to contribute abit of all your ideas of the slogan, then we will choose and vote!

1.) Real lifeguards, hired to see bikinis.
2.) Save life or take life, we decide.
3.) Hired to see you swim, safely.
4.) People who save bodies.

Currently these are the few so, do tell me your ideas ASAP ok!

----
AND PEOPLE, DO COME FOR TRAININGS ON WED, FRI AND SUN REGULARLY.
SOME OF YOU WILL NEED TO CHOOSE EVENTS AND TAKE TIMING FOR IT, IF YOU ALL ARE NOT ABLE TO MAKE IT, PLEASE INFORM CHENKUAN OR WEILUN ONE DAY BEFORE THE TRAINING DAYS WITH VALID REASONS. DON'T MIA ON US OKAY, BE RESPONSIBLE! (: CYA ON WSC CAMP ON MONDAY :D

LOVE,
ASHLEY!

Lifesaving Xmas Party

In my solemn attempt to revive this blog, I decided to take a chance and post about our PJ XMAS PARTY information here! (:

okay peopleeee.

date: 25th December 2009
time: to arrive at 6pm or later
venue: Hotel Re! (nearest MRT is Outram Park)
qualification for event: must be lifeguard or associate*.
reason for event: CHRISTMAS DAY!

Secret Santa gift exchange section

First, I would like to confirm with everyone that we have already settled the 'Secret Santa' part. Everyone should have received a message from either me or Cherlyn regarding who you are supposed to get a present for, right? So now I shall update you all about the rules of the game! :D

dear Santa,
- you may try to ask for hints from your receiver what he/she wants, but keep maintaining your secrecy! (you may try to ask somebody to ask somebody to ask somebody to ask your receiver what he/she wants so that it is not so obvious, or whatever)
- you should purchase a present for your receiver which is between $13-$15.
- please wrap your present!
- your receiver should not know who he/she will be receiving the gift from AT ALL TIMES.

dear receiver,
- you are supposed to write down what you want (that should cost between $13-$15) from your secret santa, and drop it into a container which could be found with me (:
- you are not supposed to tell anyone what you want, but you are allowed to drop light hints!
- during the day itself, you will need to guess from the pile of presents which one would be yours.

To all: Hope everyone enjoy buying prezzies!

Our Hotel

If you have been keeping track at the FB events page, you should know that we have already finalized and booked our hotel rooooom! :D

HOTEL RE! FTW~

correct, we booked a room at Hotel Re! and it's looking goooooooooooood! Check out the pictures of the room below! We booked a Premier Room, btw ;P

like a cool only right? hehe, yea this hotel cost us about $230, but we are really unsure whether they have any hidden charges or not. Therefore, should there be no hidden charge, the cost of hotel per person should be $15 (counting only people who confirmed their attendance). But we will make it between $15-$18 each in case there is really some extra charges for things like tax and stuff like that.

Hopefully it can contain every single one of us without being packed like a sardine inside~

BTW people! We're not exactly going with the rule to have so manyyyyy people in ONE hotel room, so... Let's try to tone down a bit when necessary, and b slightly more discreet. We really have no idea what will happen if they caught us ALL in one room, and we don't wanna think about it just yet. So, pray, people, pray.
There would be times when you guys will hv to come in by batch (2-3 at a time) so as to prevent suspicion, so please give us a call before you come up. Anyway you will need to check with us what room isit anyway :)

Okay, currently that's about all. We will keep updating through this virtual space here, please check back often, or follow the blog! AND, keep the tagboard alive please! (:

xoxo
Jiamin!

NUS Invitationals Results.

Hello people. Good news! I have the results of the 10th NUS Invitationals Results!

For kaypos who wanna know, visit this link!

Have a good time analyzing!

p.s thanks RP (LongFei) for link. :D

Cheers,

Well done Team NYP!

NUS Invitationals ended in a flash. Well done to all competitors and thank you for all those who went down all the way to NUS to support us!

Firstly, kudos to Team NYP and congratulations to Melissa for getting a Sliver for 200m obstacles! Okay everyone sort of expected it already. But nevertheless, congrats Choo! Nevermind the results, as long as you did your best, you shouldn't be sad. Once again, well done to those who broke their personal bests and did their very best! Cheers :D

Secondly...
In case you people didn't notice, Nationals Open Water falls on the first of August, Sat. So do your maths and you'll see that we're only a month away from it and it also means that we only had 4 sessions of beach trainings left. We stopped beach trainings for about 1 to 2 months already so now please people, train hard for the trials&finals!

Thirdly,
Training is cancelled for one whole week starting tomorrow. Cause Ivan said school is closed and lessons stopped for a week thus training should stopped too. Super tight schedule already still come up with so many stunts super lame I know. So official pool trainings will resume next Wednesday, 1st July. And we will begin training for Nationals Still Water, 16th August.

Training wise, we have some slight changes to things, every wednesday is water-based training which means swim+events while every friday would be land training. So just like last time, please bring your shoes along on Friday but don't forget your swim gears. Lifeguards do swim training after land training! No slacking! (Seniors should know this).

Oh yes, due to very very bad luck this year. All are recommended to go pray to whatever god you're praying now for a change of luck. Eat well, Sleep good and stay safe!
Cheers and train hard people!

Cherlyn!

FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY :)

Hello Lifeguards of NYP, it's me again. We received some bad news so now we're on HIGH RISK! Here's something which I find interesting and obviously it would be a big help to you, ALL OF YOU! H1N1 杀到我们家来了!!!

Influenza A (H1N1):

Just like the seasonal flu, Influenza A (H1N1) infection can vary in severity from mild to severe. Signs and symptoms of infection may include the following:

• High fever
• Cough
• Muscle pains
• Sore throat
• Fatigue or tiredness
• Headache
• Nausea
• Vomiting or diarrhoea

See a doctor if you have any of the above symptoms. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience the following warning signs:

  • • Breathing difficulty
  • • Confusion
  • • Persistent vomiting
  • • Sudden dizziness
  • • Complications

Influenza A (H1N1) infection can be serious and life threatening. Deaths from pneumonia and respiratory failure have been reported with the flu infection.

Ways to protect yourself! :D

One of the ways to protect against Influenza A (H1N1) is to prevent its spread. Since the illness occurs through direct contact with infectious material and respiratory secretions, it is important to practise good personal hygiene. Take these everyday steps to protect your health:

  1. Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly
  2. Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze
  3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with your hands
  4. If you are sick, avoid crowded areas and wear a surgical mask. Stay at home and do not go to work or school
  5. Seek treatment early if you have flu-like symptoms and if you had recently travelled to areas with cases of Influenza A (H1N1) infection
ps. any queries about medical terms, ask! You got tonnes of teammates from School of Health Sciences (SHS).

So now, we've been so called expose of whatever shit. Trainign at RP last Friday, some joker went to Butter Factory on Wed & came training and we'll be having a competition at NUS this Sat. So it's still best to keep ourselves in tip top condition for whatever that is coming, we don't want to be the first CCA to be suspended due to this pandemic. Relax and chill.

REST MORE & DRINK LOADS OF PLAIN WATER! GOODLUCK FOR COMPETITION PEOPLE! WE CAN DO IT!

南洋理工救生队 :D

Thanks all.

Cherlyn!

LG Overseas trip. :D

Hello people out there who still faithfully visits this blog of ours.

We are planning on a overseas trip during the long term break (Sept-Oct)! Plan was Genting Highlands but it's kinda boring so we changed it to islands instead.

A poll has been set up over >>> so please vote. And please hor, don't anyhow play if you're not intending to come. But nvm, we'll be doing another round of voting when everyone agrees on it. This is just for fun lol. But still take it seriously to make this trip a success. Poll ends 01/07/09 @ 12am!

Expenses for the trip is NOT sponsored/half-sponsored/sponsored at all. Everything comes from your own pocket. Anything to do with money, need to depend on yourself okay? lol. Those which need flight cost more (like duh -.-). Ferries trip cost less. Prices depending on accommodations too. So please think properly. Most likely will be team bonding alot alot and snorkling, diving if got alot of $$$$$. All support okay! We want somewhere got sand and water one. (clear sea water hor! If not sentosa also can!) So if you're interested, save up now! You're left with 2 mths. And no matter where we're going, just save as much as possible yeah? More $$$$ = more FUNFUNFUN!

TAG IF INTERESTED! AND IF GOT SUGGESTIONS, TAG! WILL UPDATE MORE ON A LATER DATE.

Thankzzzxzxzxxzz!

A note from Marcus.

Hey all. Marcus left a note in our Lifeguard file. It's addressed to ALL lifeguards in the team.

  • He will be back to compete for the team.
  • Wants everyone to attend trainings.
  • Treat training seriously.
  • Improve work attitude.
Just relaying the message for those lifeguards who are not working and don't get the chance to see the note.

And I think another round of time-trials should be coming up. It's February already. Bahhh whatever.
See you guys on Wednesday for trainings.
